Make meditation and yoga a daily routine
Meditation de-stresses the mind. It helps channelize the thoughts, rein in our intellect and harness the positive energy that can bring about a change in our outlook. Meditating, even for 10 minutes a day, can bring in great results.
Similar is the case with yoga. Doing a few yoga asanas will help you keep your body fit. And unlike gymming and aerobic exercises, yoga asanas are not physically exhausting, rather they rejuvenate the body and mind.
Both meditation and yoga keep you healthy and fit, and hence happy.

Think positive
Keep your attitude positive, and you will remain healthy. No matter what mess you are in at the moment keep a firm belief that everything will become alright. There is nothing that happens by chance, everything happens for a reason. The negative situation you are in at the moment has come to teach you something, learn the lesson.
And never take any criticism to heart. Try to understand the reason behind why a person is criticising you. Sometimes people criticise just out of jealousy; they want to pull you down. Do not pay attention. Keep focus on your path. But if the person criticising you is your genuine well-wisher, take his/her criticism in good spirit and improve yourself.

Go for home-cooked food, and say no to junk food
The humble home-cooked dal-roti-sabzi is the best food for your stomach. The junk food you eat has no nutritional value, it just satiates your hunger.
The freshly-cooked home food contains all the nutrients required for your body and it appeases hunger. And while cooking go for to traditional cooking methods as these do not make you gain weight.
Further, the kind of food we intake has a huge impact on our general well-being as well. The more saatvik food you eat, the more calm and serene you will feel.

Once a week, keep a fast
Our old religious practice of fasting once a week, is very healthy for the body. Fasting detoxifies the body by cleansing the system of all the toxins and helps the body retain its natural balance.

Sleep optimum, neither less nor more
Understand your body to decide how much sleep is good for you. On an average, seven hours of sleep replenishes the body, but for some people, like me, six hours are enough. If you feel energetic and refreshed after waking up in the morning it means that you have had a good nightโ€™s sleep. Sleeping less will make you feel tired and exhausted while sleeping more will make you lethargic, prone to headaches and stiffness of body.
