Audible has launched its newest title Buri Nazar, a thriller starring Sayani Gupta, Rithvik Dhanjani, and Supriya Pathak Kapur.
Told through a series of phone calls and voicemails, this Audible Original penned by award-winning playwright Madhuri Shekar, and adapted into Hindi by Noopur Sinha, transitions seamlessly from a light-hearted family comedy drama to an unexpectedly supernatural thriller.
The story revolves around a mother and duaghter relationship, and how that changes when the daughter gets into a relationship with a man. Supriya Pathk Kapur plays mother Usha and daughter Pallavi’s role is essayed by Sayani Gupta. Rithvik Dhanjani plays the role of Sandeep, a young Indian American entrepreneur and Sayani’s love interest.
“Playing the role of Usha and emoting the complex feelings of a loving but worried mother who just wants to protect her child using only my voice was a challenge,” says Kapur about the maiden venture of narrating an audio show.
“Audio shows/ plays have a lot of potential. Growing up listening to radio plays (my father being part of All India Radio), I have always been attracted to and intrigued by voice work. I enjoy doing it tremendously. It’s amazing to learn the range of emotions you can portray and tell a story with its nuance using just your voice, which is very powerful,” says Gupta, adding Buri Nazar is an extremely unpredictable, exciting story.
“I have played this multi-faceted and mysterious character, and doing so using only the power of my voice has been an incredibly unique challenge and I can’t wait to see what my fans think,” says Dhanjani
