There are very few artists who truly embody the saying, “Where there is a will, there is a way.” One such name is Mannoj S Kumar, the passionate voice behind Jashnn The Band. Through relentless hard work, determination, and a deep love for music, Mannoj has carved a unique identity in the Indian independent music scene.
For nearly 17 years, the journey has been filled with struggles, setbacks, and breakthroughs. Yet, one goal has remained constant — using music to inspire people and spread positivity. “Our motivation is the audience whose hunger for music is never-ending,” says Mannoj.
Passion for Music Since Childhood
Mannoj’s connection with music began early in life. What started as a love for melodies gradually transformed into writing poetry and lyrics. He contributed to newspapers and magazines under the pen name Life before deciding to pursue songwriting professionally.
“I approached several bands in India and abroad with my lyrics. Everyone appreciated them, but nobody came forward to compose or release the songs,” recalls Mannoj.
One of the bands he reached out to was Jal, especially because he felt Atif Aslam’s voice perfectly suited his lyrics. For almost three years, he kept trying to collaborate with the band, but without success.
The Turning Point That Changed Everything
After Atif Aslam left Jal, Mannoj contacted his brother, Shahbaz Aslam, who asked him to send a rough recording of how he imagined the song.
What happened next changed his life forever.
“Why are you waiting for someone else to sing these lyrics when you sing them so well yourself?” Shahbaz reportedly told him. The encouragement gave Mannoj the confidence to step behind the microphone for the first time — despite having no formal training in singing.
Interestingly, Mannoj never planned to become a singer or playback artist. The idea of forming a band came from his friend and former manager, Ankur Agarwal.
Formation of Jashnn The Band
Around 17 years ago, Mannoj began assembling musicians who shared his vision. Guitarist Atul Rana joined him initially, and together they performed at multiple events under the name Jashnn – A Beat of Celebration.
The band was formally established on December 26, 2006.
Soon, more talented artists became part of the journey, including guitarist Manish, drummer-keyboardist Monu Kumar, and guitarist Sonu Singh.
“Sonu’s understanding of music has helped us reach where we are today,” says Mannoj.
The band released songs like Hindustan Meri Jaan and their signature track Main Jee Raha Jashnn Mein. Their music video Main Zinda Hoon, released in October 2014, received widespread appreciation.
Monu Kumar on His Bond With Mannoj
Speaking about his long association with the band, Monu Kumar says he was deeply moved by Mannoj’s lyrics and dedication.
“When I met Mannoj, I was impressed by his passion for music and promised to stand by him forever,” says Monu.
Before joining the band, Monu used to perform at local jagrans and small events. Over time, he and Mannoj developed a strong creative understanding.
“We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. I love arranging music, and Mannoj wants the best from his lyrics. Together, we create music straight from the heart,” he adds.
Music With a Message
Unlike many performers, Mannoj consciously avoids singing mainstream Bollywood tracks. Instead, he focuses on original music with meaningful messages.
“I want my heart and soul to reflect in my work. Life is not only about earning money but also about touching people’s lives in the best way possible,” he says.
Over the years, Jashnn The Band has released several motivational and socially relevant songs. After the Kerala floods, they created Thaam Lo Inn Haathon Ko. During Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement, Mannoj released O Bande Jaag, which gained international recognition through a Singapore-based music company.

Lucky Ali: The Biggest Inspiration
For Mannoj, one artist has always been his greatest inspiration — Lucky Ali.
“If I sing today, it is because of Lucky sir and for him,” says Mannoj emotionally.
During the band’s early years, Lucky Ali appreciated their work despite never meeting them personally. Later, when the singer moved to New Zealand, Mannoj lost all contact with him.
Then came a surprising moment — a Facebook friend request from Lucky Ali himself.
“It felt like my prayers had been answered,” recalls Mannoj.
Meeting Lucky Ali at Siri Fort Auditorium
Years later, Jashnn The Band received an invitation to perform at an event organized by Maneka Gandhi at Siri Fort Auditorium. The invitation had been sent by Lucky Ali, who wanted to meet the band personally.
The long-awaited meeting finally happened in 2014.
“He told me that what we are doing is great and said we should work together someday,” Mannoj shares.
At the time, the band had recently released Main Zinda Hoon, which Lucky Ali reportedly appreciated.
Latest Songs and Future Plans
Continuing their journey of inspirational music, Jashnn The Band recently released Kyun Na Khuda with Zee Music Company and received an overwhelming response from listeners.
The band is also preparing to release another emotional track titled Dil Bhar Aayega around Diwali.
With meaningful lyrics, soulful music, and a mission to inspire people, Jashnn The Band continues to create a lasting impact on audiences across India.
