A day without laughter is a day wasted. Laughter is a common emotion where a person feels stress-free and relaxed. Laughter is an act of showing joy and spreading happiness. There are various health benefits of laughter not only for students but for all. Laughing is one of the best forms of remedy that heals with positivity. In today’s fast-paced world, students are getting overburdened with workload and future tensions. Following are the health benefits of laughter for the students-

Laughter relieves stress by reducing stress hormones, cortisol, and epinephrine which relieves stress, improves mood, and adds colors to the moment and the life.

Laughter can also be an energy booster that improves self-confidence and concentration which improves the self-esteem of a person.

Laughter can allow students to think creatively and joyfully and may strengthen and promote good questioning and communicative skills to overcome conflicts and encourage teamwork.

Laughter can improve the oxygen supply in the human body, lower blood pressure, boost the immune system, decrease pain, and stimulate the lungs, heart, and muscles, preventing heart diseases and burning calories.

Laughter improves the immune system, and stimulates the production of immune cells and antibodies, bolstering the body’s defense against infections. Its power extends to relationships with stronger bonds and promoting harmony within groups. Through shared laughter, individuals forge deeper connections, fostering a sense of unity and togetherness that enriches interpersonal dynamics.

Laughing lowers the glucose levels in the body resulting in reduced stress, anxiety, and agitation with happiness.

Laughing is also helpful for the lungs and heart exercise. Laughter also works as a workout for the diaphragm and is good for asthma patients as it helps them to do deep breathing and nurture our inner child.

Laughter has cognitive benefits that can directly impact academic success. Research has shown that laughter stimulates brain function by increasing oxygen flow, which can enhance cognitive abilities such as memory, creativity, and problem-solving skills. By incorporating humor into lectures or study sessions, educators can create an environment that encourages active learning and critical thinking.
