Sahitya Kala Parishad organises Thumri Fest at Kamani Auditorium from August 26-28

Sahitya Kala Parishad is organising a three-day Thumri Festival at Kamani Auditorium, Mandi House. A line-up of eminent artists and their disciples will represent the melodious journey of Hindustani classical music during the festival
Talking about the festival, Dr Monica Priyadarshini, Secretary, Sahitya Kala Parishad, said, “we have been organising Thumri Festival on a grand scale for over a decade to keep alive the grace of this musical form from the courts of nawabs. This is a much-anticipated by music connoisseurs. This gives us the motivation to make the event bigger and better with every edition. The two years of pandemic were a little tough for artistes but the fire within to promote Hindustani music has not been reduced.”
The festival begins on August 26 at 6.30pm with some mesmerising performances by Khayal singer Madhumita Ray, versatile singer Pt Bholanath Mishra’s and Hindustani classical vocalist and Thumri exponent Indrani Mukherjee.
The second day will have Hindustani Classical singer of Banaras Gharana Dr Rita Dev, Sonali Bose and Kakali Mukherjee, a disciple of Sushri Sipra Bose and Padam Vibhushan Girija Devi ji.
The last day of the festival will witness the performance of eminent Indian classical vocalist representing the Kirana & Banaras Gharana Indresh Mishra, Sunanda Sharma who will present a mellifluous rendition of Banaras Gharana style of gayaki and Padma Shri Shubha Mudgal who aces khyal, thumri, dadra, and Indian pop with equal ease.
