BookMeet – Eminent Distorians, by Utpal Kumar
Bharat, we are made to believe has had no original inhabitants. Mainstream historians have depicted Bharat as a barren land where various races and cultures arrived at different times. But there are many, like Journalist-Author Utpal Kumar who strongly debunk the Aryan invasion theory, calling Vedic and Harappan civilizations two sides of the same coin. Utpal Kumar has now come out with his new book, Eminent Distorians: Twists and Truths in Bharat’s History that talks about all the original inhabitants of Bharat. The book re-evaluates Ashoka’s legacy and the Nehruvian obsession with his ‘greatness’. It reinterprets Bharat’s ‘golden era’ during the Gupta period and sheds new light on the post-Gupta phase, and also includes significant dynasties like Karkotas, Gurjara-Pratiharas, Pallavas, Cholas, and Ahoms, among others.
