Badshah on Online Hate, Heartless Success & His Quiet Acts of Kindness

Rapper Badshah says he has grown used to receiving hate messages and online criticism, but admits that it still affects him emotionally at times. Despite the negativity, he continues to focus on his music and audience, especially as his latest track Heartless crosses 50 million views on YouTube.

“Criticism is real. The amount of hate I get is… I am used to it now. It doesn’t make a difference, but it still breaks my heart sometimes,” Badshah shared. He also pointed out that even successful projects often face trolling. “Even this video has so many dislikes. I don’t know why there is so much hatred,” he added.

Facing Online Spam and Negativity

The rapper revealed that he is sometimes targeted by coordinated spam messages. “I am deliberately spammed. Once I received about 100 messages in the same format from different accounts. It was clearly copy-paste. Now I know how it works, so I don’t take it too seriously,” he said.

Despite the negativity, Badshah remains grounded. “I am getting my money, I am entertaining people, and I have a strong fan base. That is what matters,” he added.

The Story Behind Heartless

Badshah’s over seven-minute-long music video Heartless, from his album ONE, features a young girl battling cancer who wishes to meet him. The emotional narrative has resonated with millions of viewers.

He credited the concept to director Gurickk G Maan. “The credit goes to Gurickk. He is a genius. He came up with this idea. Initially, we were unsure because long-format videos are not always widely watched,” Badshah said.

However, he believed in the story’s emotional strength. “It was a story that needed to be told. Once people start watching it, they don’t skip it,” he added.

The director, who is the son of legendary singer Gurdas Maan, also understood public perception of celebrities. Badshah noted that people often misjudge intentions. “If celebrities do something good, it is called a publicity stunt. If they don’t show it, they don’t get credit,” he said.

On His Private Acts of Charity

Badshah also opened up about his personal charitable efforts, saying he prefers not to publicise them but sometimes shares them to inspire others.

He recalled discovering a fundraising campaign while browsing Facebook. “There was an organisation called Milap. I saw a post about a girl suffering from a liver condition who needed treatment. I donated money,” he said.

He added that the girl has now recovered. “I keep doing such things. I posted it on Instagram not to show off, but to encourage others to help if they can,” he explained.

He also shared that small contributions matter. “Even Rs 500 makes a difference. You just need the heart to help and the willingness to separate yourself from money,” he said.

Music, Fame & Staying Grounded

Despite criticism and online trolling, Badshah continues to remain one of India’s most popular rappers. With Heartless gaining massive viewership and emotional storytelling, he says his focus remains on creating meaningful music and staying connected to his audience.

For Badshah, success is not just about numbers but also about impact—both through music and real-life actions.
