Building a Boutique Hotel Brand | Shan Bhatnagar on Laalee, Design & Entrepreneurship
Team L&M
Shan Bhatnagar is the Co-Founder of Laalee – The Boutique Hotel, a brand that redefines what it means to feel at home while you travel. He is not just a hotelier, but also an Artist, Interior Designer and Designer of Laalee. From building a hotel rooted in culture and comfort to navigating the realities of entrepreneurship in hospitality, Shan’s journey is one of passion, perseverance, and purpose.
He has infused his creative vision into every corner of Laalee, transforming it into a living canvas inspired by Lord Krishna and traditional Indian aesthetics. His journey began with a passion for art and heritage, including work in cultural restoration, which today reflects in the storytelling design language of the boutique property.
Laalee is co-created with his wife Devyani Bhatnagar. It blends art, culture, and mindful hospitality. Located in the heart of Jaipur, the property offers an intimate stay experience with uniquely designed rooms, each celebrating themes of love, devotion, and Indian traditions.
From hand-painted frescoes and curated antiques to lush gardens and immersive experiences like art workshops and heritage walks, Laalee stands out as more than just a hotel—it is an artistic and cultural retreat.
What makes Shan Bhatnagar’s vision truly distinctive is the seamless integration of art, cuisine, and storytelling. Guests at Laalee can engage directly with his work through Pichwai painting workshops, heritage walks through Jaipur’s old city, and curated cultural experiences.
Alongside Devyani’s culinary expertise, the space becomes a reflection of their shared philosophy—creating a home that celebrates Indian traditions while offering a deeply personal and soulful hospitality experience.
