Delhi traders to launch city-wide agitation against trucks’ ban
Over 200 traders from Delhi attended the meeting called by CAIT

The Delhi government move to ban the entry of medium and heavy vehicles in Delhi from October 1 to February 28, 2023 has not been taken too kindly by the traders who are worried about its negative impact on their business. Trade will be badly destroyed as the supply chain will come to a complete halt due to non-entry of trucks in Delhi as they run on diesel.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) convened a meeting of leading trade associations from Delhi today. It was attended by about 200 prominent trade leaders, including leaders of the All India Transport Welfare Association and Delhi Transport Association. If the government does not take back this order then the traders of Delhi will have no other alternative but to move to the neighboring states of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, they said.
CAIT has decided to undertake an intensive study to bring real truth of adversity of this order on trade through a White Paper. It was unanimously decided at the meeting that an intensive campaign would be launched against this order across Delhi.
The CAIT campaign will begin on July 10, under widespread meetings and rallies will be organised in the markets of Delhi seeking withdrawal of government order. “Pollution is definitely a big problem and steps should be taken to stop it, but it is very important to ensure that such steps do not harm the businesses,” says CAIT Delhi State President Vipin Ahuja. Traders also affirmed to plant one crore trees in Delhi so as to contribute towards environment improvement. For tree protection, Vriksha Mitra Movement will be organised.
The CAIT delegation will meet Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinay Saxena, Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal on this issue.
Trade leaders also say that the decision of the Delhi Government is against the basic principle of One Nation One Law and also against the concept of free movement of all goods across the country. Except Delhi, there is no such order in any state of the country.
