 Better days ahead for Kalindi Kunj ghat

The development of Kalindi Kunj ghat landscape was among the key projects approved in the 43rd  Executive Committee meeting of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG). NMCG Director General G Asok Kumar okayed a cost of around Rs 38 crore for this project.  The other okayed projects pertained to industrial and sewerage pollution abatement through new technologies, and afforestation.

The ghat development includes creation of eco-friendly seating, waste bins, shades, plantation which will help facilitate people-river connect.

Early this month, the NMCG had created Namami Gange Amrit Vatika at this ghat by planting 75 saplings under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

“Cleaning of tributaries of River Ganga, especially, Yamuna, is one of the focus areas of the Namami Gange Programme,” says Kumar exhorting people to become a part of this Clean Yamuna campaign. The NMCG organises a cleanliness drive on River Yamuna in Delhi on the 4th Saturday of every month.
