Guidelines for cab operators framed

Women, the next time you travel by a cab, check for the GPS panic device. Also see to it that there is NO central locking system in the taxi. Yes, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Shipping has denoted certain guidelines that have to be followed by each cab driver/operator.
These measures were recommended by Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi in the new Taxi Policy Guidelines for the safety of women commuters availing cab services.
The measures also state that the driver’s identification along with the photo and registration number of the vehicle should also be prominently displayed in the taxi and no woman can be forced to share a taxi with another passenger against her will. Sharing of seat is subject to willingness of passenger/s.
Furthermore, any violation of the stipulated rules by the taxi operators/drivers would be strictly dealt with.
