Temporary Lord Rama Temple: A sustainable, energy efficient structure

Team L&M

Living the eco-friendly way is no longer a choice with the current situation as it has become the need of the hour. And when humans choose such a facility, why should gods be left behind? Little wonder then that the temporary Lord Rama Temple structure in Ayodhya has been created out of sustainable and eco-friendly materials before the final structure comes up a couple of years later.

The temporary Lord Rama Temple structure in Ayodhya, inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath in March 2020, has been made from wood imported from the sustainable forests of Germany, Canada and Estonia. The structure, a 21 ft x 14 ft and double-layer insulated building, is energy-efficient. The structure has been designed to withstand all extreme weather and climatic conditions and can stand an earthquake up to 8-9 on the Richter scale. The concept of Vaastu science has been adhered to for the layout of the structure which can withstand wind pressures of more than 150 kmph. These parameters were ensured at par with global standards which are to be adhered to when constructing such structures.

The project of the temporary Lord Rama Temple structure was allocated to Nature Homes after they had shared their exclusive temple designs and layouts before the temple committee which judiciously chose the use of eco-friendly and sustainable material for constructing the structure in Ayodhya. The temple has been constructed on the allotted land for the permanent temple structure which will take a couple of years to be built in the meantime this structure will serve the purpose as it will house the lord’s shrine until the final structure is complete.

Nature Homes, established in 2013 by Saurabh Sood, offers wooden housing and eco-living solutions and has done around 30 eco-friendly and sustainable projects.
