A two-week-long series has been initiated by the JCB Prize for Literature on their Instagram channel. Termed the JCB Prize Catch Up (#TheJCBPrizeCatchUp), the series will feature a host of influential Indian authors and is aimed at giving readers and aspiring writers an opportunity to interact with authors and participate in a stimulating conversation about the world of fiction and reality in the times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This initiative is an extension of the Foundation’s mission to promote the art of literature in India – increasing literary awareness and making it more accessible and inclusive by providing a platform for the authors to connect with their readers.
The series leverages the digital world to create a positive space that encourages an exchange of ideas and inclusivity with an aim of making the process of social distancing enriching and engaging. The conversations will also dwell upon challenges the virus has brought to fore — isolation, loneliness and sickness and how that affects their creative process. Writers will also offer insights into their purpose, process and technique.
Writers Shubhangi Swarup, Benyamin, Amitabha Bagchi, Vivek Shanbhag, Roshan Ali, Chandrahas Choudhury, Mukta Sathe and Arunava Sinha will take over the Prize’s Instagram Live and answer questions from audiences as well as hear from them. While Shubhangi Swarup (on March 31) and Benyamin (April 2) have completed their schedules successfully, up next are Amitabha Bagchi (April 4), Arunava Sinha (April 7), Chandrahas Choudhury (April 9), Mukta Sathe (April 11), Vivek Shanbhag (April 13) and Roshan Ali (April 15).
