Like many other skin& haircare brands, Kamree was too has been born out of its Founder Ritika Krit’s personal needs. “I had some skin issues and was looking for good-quality, affordable skincare products for my own use when it struck me why not make my own. As it is none of the products I tried satisfied me,” says Ritika. A little survey into the market and she realized that many others too were facing the same problem as she was. “I realised there was a gap in the market for products that were safe, and effective,” she adds. Hence was born Kamree, in 2020. Today, Kamree has a strong presence in India, and its products are sold in Nepal & UK as well. The products are sold through its website as well as other e-commerce platforms like Amazon & Flipkart.
But reaching this far has not been easy. “One of the biggest challenges I faced was in formulating products that were innovative and met the growing demand for ecological, and ethically derived products. But hard work paid,” says Ritika, as she settles down for in interview:

Amid the tough market competition how do you ensure that Kamree is different and better than the others?
Our products solve essential everyday concerns, something of which I found an acute need. These are without any harsh chemicals, and are 100 per cent cruelty-free and paraben-free.
We are transparent about the ingredients we use, as against many brands that lack complete information about their compositions, making it challenging for consumers to choose products that fit their needs. We also make sure to list all the ingredients on our packaging so that customers can make informed decisions about what they put on their bodies.
We believe in providing high-quality products that address our customers’ beauty concerns effectively, without causing any harm to the environment or animals. Our mission is to make beauty accessible to all.

How R&D went into it?
Extensive. Our cosmetology team went into great details to identify the best ingredients that could solve various hair, skin, and eye-related concerns. Our goal was to create a range of products that not only provided visible results in a short time but were also readily available, affordable.

You launched the brand in 2020 during the period of the pandemic when people worried more about survival than thinking about how to look good…
… Still we received positive response from our customers. While the pandemic has undoubtedly impacted people’s priorities, we believe that taking care of oneself, both physically and mentally, is vital for overall well-being. Our customers appreciated that our products were designed to provide quick and visible results, which helped boost their confidence during a challenging time.
During the pandemic, we were able to connect with our customers virtually, making our products accessible to those who were unable to visit physical stores. We also ensured that our products were affordably priced, which further aided our customers during the pandemic.

How do you reach out to your prospective customers?
Through social media and our customer care team. Our cosmetology team takes a personalised approach to treating our customers’ skin concerns by requesting complete skin history, diet, and past products and treatments they have tried. With this information, we recommend a treatment kit tailored to their skin issue and skin type, followed by a 15-day follow-up after purchasing the kit.

How is Kamree an environment-friendly brand?
We take our responsibility towards the planet seriously. We understand the impact that our actions have on the environment, and we have taken steps to minimise our carbon footprint.
One of the ways we do this is by using decomposable raw materials for our products. Our packaging and boxes are easily decomposable and eco-friendly, which helps reduce waste and pollution. We also have a pledge to plant a tree for every 50th customer, with the aim of planting 1000 trees every year. This is our way of giving back to the environment and contributing to the fight against climate change.
Moreover, we actively promote greenery and create awareness for the environment through our products. We send seed bombs to our customers to encourage them to plant trees and create a sustainable future for our planet.

Which is your bestseller and why?
Tamanu Balm. It is a safe solution for treating major skin issues such as eczema and psoriasis, and is suitable for all skin types. The balm is formulated using high-quality ingredients and is free from harsh chemicals, making it safe for use by both kids and adults. It’s an effective solution for providing relief from skin irritation, inflammation, and dryness, making it a versatile product for addressing a range of skin concerns. We have received positive feedback from customers across different age groups and skin types.

Where do you see yourself, say, five years from now?
We aim to open Kamree outlets all over India, making our products more accessible to people across the country. Additionally, we also plan to expand internationally and establish a strong presence in the global market. We will keep innovating and creating new products that cater to the ever-evolving needs of our customers.
