‘Our Lives’ focusses on people affected by leprosy
An exhibition of remarkable photos depicting the lives of people affected by leprosy and the disease’s impact on them and their families will be up on display at The Art Gallery, India International Center, Kamaladevi Complex, 40 Max Mueller Marg, New Delhi from April 20. Titled Our Lives, the exhibition has been put together by The Nippon Foundation, an organisation working towards the eradication of leprosy worldwide. The larger objective of the exhibition, which is being held in collaboration with the India International Centre, Embassy of Japan and Sasakawa-India Leprosy Foundation, is to empower people affected by leprosy and alter perceptions in society.
“Leprosy is curable and people can lead fulfilling lives after being cured,” says photographer Natsuko Tominaga who has travelled widely in India and around the world to capture these powerful images.
The exhibition ends May 1 and can be visited between 1100 and 1900 hours.
