The Ayurvedic Wellness Cookbook: Recipes for Balance & Rejuvenation by Gita Ramesh, Joint Managing Director of Kairali Ayurvedic Group, has been honoured with the Gourmand Award 2023, at UMEA Food in Sweden, in two categories Diet & Vegetarian.

Detailing various new Ayurvedic healing recipes and medicinal values, the book reveals ways for a healthy lifestyle and embraces the wisdom of Ayurveda to promote holistic well-being and nourishment. The Ayurvedic Wellness Cookbook is a culmination of Gita Ramesh’s years of experience as an Ayurvedic practitioner in preparing and curating recipes. All the recipes are vegetarian, nutritious, and with therapeutic values. At the centre of these healthy recipes is the idea that food has medicinal properties with the power to heal. The beauty is in the simplicity of these recipes with the perquisite that they are delicious too. When consumed daily for a week, the recipes in this book will make you feel light, energised and promote an overall sense of well-being.

Says the author, “What I have written is an easy-to-follow guide to maintaining a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. I feel really humbled to receive this award. Actually, according to Ayurveda this is what we follow in our daily lives.”

Gita Ramesh’s profound knowledge and passion for Ayurveda has also been showcased in her other books – Ayurvedic Herbal Massages and The Ayurvedic Cookbook, which have also been translated into multiple languages, including English and Dutch.

“In Ayurveda, one does not count calories, instead we commit to a philosophy and a way of life. Ayurveda proposes that eating be a mindful, meditative experience. By making a shift to a way of slow eating, using freshly sourced, seasonal ingredients, this cookbook shifts the focus of eating to detoxification and rejuvenation for all body types,” adds the author.

With over 100.000 screened books and publications from some 230 countries and regions, the Gourmand Awards brings an overview of food and drink information published all around the world the year. The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau. Every year, they honour the best food and wine books, printed or digital, as well as food television.
