A varied collection of crafts and products inspired by the theme of lotus that embodies the spirit of Nature – be it jute, banana fibre, wood carving, lacquer and Dhokra decoratives. Thereโs something from the mix for everyone!
Radiantย Banarasi brocadesย from Uttar Pradesh,ย tussar weavesย from Bihar,ย Kotpad weavesย from Odisha, warm and vibrantย woollen textiles and shawlsย from Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and Gujarat. Block-printed, embroidered, naturally dyed textilesย intricately adorned with vibrant stitches, applique and patch work.
Andretta, Khurja and blue pottery,ย furniture in woodย andย wrought iron andย lacquer coated decorativesย to bring a traditional touch to homes. Stylish woven dhurries from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh to adorn the floors.ย Silver and beaded jewelleryย and exciting accessories and footwear.
The theme this year, inspiring both craftspeopleโs creativity and our bazaar displays, is the Lotus.
The Lotus is not only Indiaโs national flower, but symbolic of purity and truth.ย Numerous verses and sayings play on the fact that though it grows in mud it smells of incense. Lotus has been translated into every textile technique โ applique, weaving, embroidery, block printing โ even the intricate medium ofย bandiniย tie-dye. And you find them all over India โ carved, painted and embossed in metal, wood, and ceramic, glass painting.
In addition, from November 16-25, will beย DASTKAR’s curated sari previewย from textile designers and master weavers like Mala Sinha of Bodhi, Weavers Studio, Malavika Chatterjee, Dayalal Kudecha, Taan Baan, Kaushik Ganguly of Tasar, Tuni Handicraft, Vriksh, Vimor, Ghanshyam Sarode, Sutra Handicrafts, Chaman Premji Vankar, Asha Savla, Murali Sarees Emporium, Rema Kumar, Vaya Weaving Heritage, Sanjukta Roy, Ali Mohd. Khatri, Kastoori Sarees, Ethnicraftz, Ankita Naskar, Indian August, Vani Vritti, Rekha Kapoor, Chitransh, Ambika Devi, SEWA Banaskantha, Beauty Kantha and Mrinalini.
