AstaGuru is holding a Collectors’ Choice auction, a curated celebration of rare masterpieces that have helped shape the legacy of Indian Modern Art. Taking place on June 26–27, 2025, the online auction features seminal works by cultural pioneers and modern masters—each piece representing a chapter in the nation’s visual heritage.

This thoughtfully curated catalogue presents important works by M.F. Husain, S.H. Raza, Ram Kumar, A. Ramachandran, Nandalal Bose, Rabindranath Tagore, Krishen Khanna, and F.N. Souza among others. From abstraction rooted in spirituality to figuration charged with historical meaning, these lots offer collectors an opportunity to acquire culturally resonant and collectible works to add to their legacy.

A Ramachandran – Visions of Ramdev – Ahalya in Red

On the cover is a powerful painting by M.F. Husain, from his Mother Teresa series—depicting the saint and Mahatma Gandhi in a stark, minimal composition. Estimated at ₹2–3 crore, it reflects Husain’s ability to distill emotion through abstraction.

A major highlight is —a set of 35 handwritten letters by Rabindranath Tagore, written to his confidant D.P. Mukerji. Spanning decades and letterheads from Glen Eden, Visva-Bharati, and his houseboat Padma, these intimate writings (Est.₹5–7 crore) offer an unparalleled glimpse into the personal and intellectual world of one of India’s greatest minds.

Also featured is an ethereal landscape by Nandalal Bose (Est. ₹25–35 lakh), reflecting his deep sensitivity to nature and India’s folk traditions.

In a powerful reflection on moral complexity and history, Krishen Khanna’s diptych ‘Untitled (Benediction)’—from his renowned Battlefield series—reimagines the moment the Pandavas visit a dying Bhishma. The lot (Est. ₹1.2–1.6 crore) presents Khanna’s meditation on war, dharma, and human responsibility.

The catalogue further includes iconic compositions by Ram Kumar, T.V. Vaikuntam, Jangarh Singh Shyam, Gurcharan Singh, and S.L. Haldankar.
