Just as evening set in Delhi-NCR, dark clouds gathered and started thundering. This was followed by lightning for almost half an hour. Then it started to drizzle. Even as tweet regulars of the National Capital started updating the world about the latest in their city, there arrived a few tweets about “oil rain”. And this was no joke or a prank.
The Delhi Fire Department received around 40 calls from all over Delhi about “oil rain”. In fact, the Delhi Police had to shut one of the roads opposite Holy Family Hospital which leads to Jamia Nagar in South Delhi. This was after a few bikers had slipped on the road. Another such call was received from New Friends Colony. The Fire Brigade later washed the road clean.
