SheConnects, a forum of empowered women, was launched at hotel Taj Vivanta yesterday September 8. An initiative by Anju Handa, Greens Foundation chairperson, it is aimed at helping women achieve their life goals.
Present on the occasion were forum patron Dr Sandeep Marwah, president, Marwah Studios, eminent poet and writer Rashmi Anand, motivational speaker Isaiah Anthony and oral cancer specialist Dr. Prerna Taneja besides a host of professionals from all walks of life.
“I strongly believe that women should not be stopped to achieve their dreams. Through SheConnects we aim to connect 10,000 powerful women globally who can further help a multitude of women out there in need of assistance be it in education or training. On the anvil we have a series of events, seminars, workshops, talk shows, conferences and book launches,” stated Ms Handa at the launch.
Dr Sandeep Marwah and Isaiah Anthony addressing the gathering
“Who are we to empower women? questioned Mr Marwah in his address, “It’s women who empower us! All we need to do is to just stand by their side and supplement their growth.” Dedicating his success to the three women in his life (his mother, his sister and his wife), he remarked, “With their dedication and hard work, women are excelling in all areas of life. I am proud to state that at Marwah Studio, 50 per cent of the staff members are women.”
Mr Anthony spoke about how one can keep oneself motivated through the difficult journey of life. “Time and again, we must go inwards and ask ourselves as to who we are, why are we here, what is our purpose in life and how that purpose can be achieved,” he said. “This will not only keep you on track but also provide the necessary push,” he added.
Author Rashmi Anand talked about her journey of life explaining how she gathered her life and rose from ashes after years of being battered and bruised in domestic violence. “If I can, so can any one else,” she said, encouraging the gathering.
Through her talk, Dr Taneja inspired women to follow their heart, and take all adversities in their stride.
A poster of SheConnects- Women of Substance was also released on the occasion.
