The New York Festival Award for three consecutive years, five RJ of the Year awards, a book for the first time in the history of radio on a radio show, 6.3 million followers on FB and 895K on Instagram! That’s RJ PRAVEEN for you, one of the most versatile RJs in the country today. The variety of shows and type of content RJ Praveen has handled is diverse, from the evening drive time show full of madness to a one-of-its-kind horror storytelling one, Ek Kahani Aisi Bhi to Red Murga and The Headphone Show! have been loved and appreciated by one and all.

Born in Kolkata and brought up in Patratu (Jharkhand) in a Marwri family, RJ Praveen did his schooling till class 7 in Patratu and moved to Kolkata in 1998 where he completed his graduation in marketing management (2003-06). With no formal training to be a jockey, RJ Praveen started as an intern in Red FM Kolkata in 2006 due to his mimicry talent and the rest has been a journey of 16 years which has continued since then.

Biggest faux pas you have done till date.
Many! I don’t want my management to know as we are heading towards appraisals.

Do awards and recognition matter or is the love of the listeners more important?
Both! We do our shows for our listeners and if we get awarded for the same then I don’t think there is any harm in saying that I want both!

Praveen gets transported to Mars. What would he do for a living there?
Main wahan se dharti par logo ki mangal (Mars) ki dasha theek karunga aur uske paise bhi lunga!

A celebrity who annoys Praveen no ends.

Depends, what time of the year it is!

 

What is something that is really popular now but in five years everyone will look back at it and be embarrassed about it?
Social media content!

Fairytales would get more interesting and become sci-fi!

So that men get to do cleaning !
