BookMeet – Anisur Rahman, Author, The Essential Ghalib

A former Professor of English at New Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia University where he worked in the areas of English and Indian literary studies, especially Urdu, Prof Anisur Rahman is a critic and translator with four volumes of poetry translations to his credit. He recently came out with ‘The Essential Ghalib’, which is simply a treat for Ghalib fans. It has 200 Urdu couplets of the celebrated poet, which Prof Rehman has translated to English. He has also given detailed critical commentary about each of these couplets, giving multiple interpretations of each line.
