Guru Purnima

NECTAR OF GURU PURNIMA

Ashwini Guruji

Yog is the sum total of creation, and the science unfolds in various stages – first at the level of elements, then consciousness and then divinity – making a normal being into a super being. Understanding and experiencing the elements and their properties and using them to bring about changes in you and your surroundings are a basic siddhi of yog under a guru.

Creation that we see around is composed of five elements, the panch mahabhutas – prithvi, jal, agni, vayu and akash. These elements in various permutations and combinations make up the various aspects of creation – plants, animals, birds, rivers and our bodies included.

Even though these elements cannot be seen in the body, yet they are there, controlling and affecting its day-to-day functioning. The earth element, provides support and structure to the body, the water element governs the functions of elimination and procreation, fire element is responsible for the energy needs of the body, air element transports the nutrients to various parts of the body and the ether element promotes growth and development.

The changes in our body, is simply the elements undergoing a transition. So if you are ageing or are sick, it is because of the elements, which are changing form. Similarly if you are glowing or your strength is increasing, it is the elements at play.

On Purnima, the moon is in full form and there is awakening in all the elements. The element of moon is som, which is the nectar of life, which nourishes and promotes all other elements. This nectar in the human body is called as bindu visarg, and can be felt in deep states of dhyan. This nectar drops from the agya chakra or the seat of Guru and has to be held at the throat pit (visshudhi). Sanatan Kriya details the techniques to do this. When it is held, it endows the practitioner with phenomenal glow and attraction and stalls the ageing process in the body.

On Guru Purnima day, the energy of the moon is at its peak and so the generation of nectar is the most and the volatility of the elements is also at its maximum. The elements and the som are energy that are channelized by the guru. Without Guru’s force, you will not be able to channelize them inside your body. When the guru touches the moon element in the body, automatically they go to maximum and there is an awakening that happens inside you.

So if you want to awaken to reality, and understand what these elements are all about, what this creation is all about, what is it that makes the various aspects of creation function, the energy behind workings of creation, and if you want to have the maximum benefits of som, then Guru Purnima is the day to do it.

Dhyan Foundation is conducting Guru Purnima Yagya on today (July 20) at 5.30pm IST.
