 CAIT organising Virat Lakhpati Didi Women Entrepreneur Summit on March 8

This International Women’s Day (March 8) will witness a grand event, the Virat Lakhpati Didi Women Entrepreneur Summit. It is being jointly organised by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT)in close association with Association of Direct Selling Entities of India (ADSEI) and Federation of Direct Selling Association (FDSA) at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

Twenty-five thousand Lakhpati Didi from across all states will participate in this summit. The Lakhpati Didi scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to economically empower women across the country. The Direct Selling Rules formulated by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs have facilitated millions, especially women, to engage in business with ease, thereby becoming Lakhpati Didi.

CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that the summit aims to acknowledge PM Modi’s vision and initiatives such as Self-Reliant India, Women Empowerment, Digital India, Skill India, Startup India, and Make in India, which have significantly contributed to entrepreneurship and self-reliance in India. With an annual turnover of nearly 50,000 crores and involving over 1.25 crore individuals, including around 50 lakh women, the direct selling sector has not only provided self-employment opportunities but also indirect benefits and employment to millions.

The Chairman of ADSEI Sanjeev Kumar mentioned that at this Lakhpati Didi summit, women entrepreneurs engaged in direct selling businesses who have achieved new heights of success through their skills will be honoured. Additionally, women who have attained notable achievements at the national and international levels in other sectors will also be recognised.

FDSA Secretary Rajiv Gupta stated that companies involved in direct selling businesses will provide financial and skill development training to women under the Lakhpati Didi scheme. This initiative aims to make women financially independent and not only run their own enterprises but also provide employment opportunities to a large number of people.
