Inspired by pre-summer weddings, Shehla Khan unveils her new pre-spring collection

Famous for redefining bridal couture, Shehla Khan has launched her new pre-spring collection. Inspired by the ongoing pre-summer weddings, the current line aims to cater for the wedding requirements of bridesmaids, friends and relatives. It features Khan’s signature lace-inspired embroideries, beaded lace pieces, pearl and crystal- embellished wedding outfits.

A capsule collection of lehengas, saris and dresses would set the tone for the upcoming summer weddings and make a perfect fit for a bride’s trousseau. While talking about the collection, Shehla Khan said, “The palette of my new collection has all the subtle as well as bright hues that make you think of spring! Full of reds, pinks, lilacs, pearl whites, silvers, crystals, lavenders, plums, I’ve made use of tulle, sequins, chiffon and lace for this line. This capsule collection will set the mood for upcoming summer weddings with a melange of our lace-inspired embroideries, beaded lace pieces, cocktail dresses and pearl and crystal embellished lehengas and saris. We have kept the style Indo-Western and light to match the needs of both, the on- going trends as well as the season. The assemblage is an answer to all your spring wedding outfit woes!”

Shehla Khan was born into the world of fashion and always used to hang around her father’s business of embroidery. From a very young age, she knew that fashion is her forte and that’s exactly what she saw herself doing in the future. She worked with Manish Malhotra during her early graduation and was exposed to the many facets of fashion, after which she went to study at the London School of Fashion and Instituto Marangoni. She started her own studio in the early phase of 2011. The philosophy she takes to when she designs is simple, giving Indian couture a Westernised touch. The label comprises a lot of feminine designs, sheer fabrics, delicate laces vand almost any supple fabric that can be fashioned into a pretty result The label’s past collections were successfully showcased at the Lakme Fashion Week thrice with the gorgeous showstoppers Karishma Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandes and Nargis Fakhri. Every new collection is backed by the different seasons, new inspirations and Shehla’s mood at the time.
