The National Capital Region of Delhi has the highest annual carbon footprint in the country. The Capital cityโ€™s annual CO2 emission is 69.4 million tonnes. As per the Central Pollution Control Board data (2018) areas surrounding the Tuglaqabad Biodiversity Park like Shadipur, Gurugram, Mundka, Wazirpur, Anand Vihar, Okhla, Bawana and Mathura Road were among the top polluted areas. Regional weather forecasting centre in New Delhi reported the NCR cities primarily receive westerly and north-westerly winds during the winter, while the cities mostly receive easterly and south-easterly winds during the summer season.

On an average, a tree seizes a rate of 34.6 pounds of carbon. The 10,000 native plant species that are planted have been selected on the basis of the soil and weather conditions to maximise the effect of large-scale plantation in reducing the carbon footprint. The Tuglaqabad Biodiversity Park spread across over 200 acres plays a significant role in the conservation of NCRโ€™s environment by recharging the ground water, improving the local weather, providing recreational value and revive the flora and fauna.

In a constant endeavour to contribute towards the social and economic development of local communities,ย Vinay & Ajay Jain Foundation, aย PPAP Automotive Limited trust, undertook a tree plantation drive at Tuglaqabad Biodiversity Park in Delhi. With the mission of creating a greener future for children and intensify the green quotient of Delhi-NCR, 10,000 saplings of native species were planted.
While inaugurating the plantation drive,ย  Ajay Kumar Jain, trustee, Vinay & Ajay Jainย Foundation, said, โ€œOur aim is to contribute meaningfully to the social transformation of the communities in which we operate. We hope that the society along with corporates come together to build a better, humane, sustainable and equitable way of life for the marginalized sections of our society and inspire people to make a conscious decision to plant trees and also transform the area to bring back the forests that once existed.โ€

On this occasion, chief guest Ramesh Kumar, chief engineer, DDA, shed light upon environmental stress and explained the importance of green cover to tackle this issue. He gave an assurance of DDAโ€™s commitment to make Delhi green through biodiversity parks.
Addressing the gathering,ย renowned environmentalist Prof CR Babu, Emeritus, Delhi University, expressed his thoughts on the native species which were planted and how these saplings will support the environment by providing us with clean air to breath and also clean water through an intensified water cycle.
