The erstwhile Chetak Park in Old Rajinder Nagar, near Karol Bagh metro station has been converted into an exclusive Pet Dog Park by North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC). Significantly, this is the first Dog Park in the Capital. What’s interesting is that the walls of the park have been covered with over 30 paintings of dogs in colorful shapes, sizes and moods by a team of artist from the Delhi Street Art. One of the walls has been painted by art students of various schools and colleges.

“We are very excited to be engaged by Himanshu Gupta, DC Karol Bagh NDMC to help bring his dream project to fruition. It took five days for our talented team to create these paintings,” says DSA Founder Yogesh Saini, adding that these paintings are of different dog breeds in a variety of styles, and done on every available surface of the park premises.

“We hope that the art works will appeal to dog lovers when they visit this park to give their pets a chance to run around, play and try out different activities. A wall has specially been built (with a sitting space behind) where selfie seekers can capture the moment in the company of playful dog art works,” he adds. The park also has some information on pet care. The DSA team has also painted old tyres for the dogs to run through.

Pet owners are happy, for, they now have an exclusive space where they can walk their dogs and not worry about street dogs that often hound these pets, especially the smaller breeds. “I have three dogs and nearly 10 homes around the park are dog-owners. We love that this neglected park will now be such a great place to take our dogs for an outing and to make new friends,” says Avinash, an area resident.
