Come Saturday, April 21, and a new avatar Baaya Ver 4.0 will be out to give a new look to your home, office or any other interior. The new store, at Raghuvanshi Mills Compound, Lower Parel, Mumbai, will not only inspire amazement and appreciation about artisans‘ skills, it will also throw tantalising possibilities that emerge with the help of contemporary design.
The new and improved store has been designed to reimagine your interiors, providing well thought-out mock-ups for visualisation of various living spaces like a living room, a home office or a dining area. The renovated store offers more space, new product categories and a lot more choices! You can expect a mix of new, innovative art, artefacts, zany furniture, mirrors and rugs apart from the classic range available at Baaya. The perfect eclectic blend, the place where tradition meets design.
The store will also feature Baaya Design Studio where a customer can take help in design and execute customised solutions for interiors. The studio will have a full-time design consultant available to suggest exciting concepts for your spaces.
Shibani Jain, founder and CEO, Baaya Design, works with a rare passion to bring the invaluable but languishing artisan skills from rural India into urban markets. Armed with an NID degree from Ahmedabad, she founded Baaya Design, a social venture, in December 2009 with a vision to conserve traditional artisan skills through innovative design inputs. Shibani realised that while there were many handmade products present in urban markets, the customisable artisan ‘skills’ were not really available in a meaningful way. These skills which are passed down from generation to generation, were slowly dying. And yet, they held amazing possibilities.
Today, Shibani works with different art forms and producer groups and delivers her agenda through design innovation and building exposure to the large variety of special skills that are available.
