For Bengalis, Durga Puja is one of the most important festivals among the “baaromaash’eteroparbon” (the 13 festivals through a year)     . This is the day when you can actually see a true Bengali adorning all the traditional garments and accessories. From millennials to mothers and aunts – everybody indulges themselves and their loved ones with ‘notun jaama’. So, how can the fashion designers lag behind launching their exclusive collections for the occasion?

Kantha garment brand, ‘Kantha By Farah Khan’, has unveiled its new collection, Aagomoni 2022. The specially tailored assemblage comprises pieces of art, using the versatile Kantha hand embroidery. Included in the collection are Dupattas, Sarees, Neckpieces and Clutch Bags, in hues like Red, Yellow and Blue showcasing the aesthetics of Bengal’s heritage and culture.

The designer has mindfully handcrafted the garments with fabrics ranging from Tussar to Bangalore Silk, considering the comfort aspect during these times. Each piece is a labour of love with unique patterns portraying the story of simple village women, their joys, sorrows, aspirations as also the rich culture and traditions in their society. For each of the five days leading to the main pujo, the Aagomoni 2022 has something of sheer elegance.

Men have been covered too

Don’t you think men have been left high and dry. They can also pick up exclusive pieces for the Pujo, thanks to luxe menswear fashion designer Surbhi Pansari. “The first thing that every man must have in his wardrobe is a well fitted kurta. Kurtas are traditional attires, which can be paired conveniently with a pyjama to get the perfect puja look,” she says.

The designer has a wide variety of kurtas to choose from. One can opt for layered kurtas or embroidered ones suiting their style. The designer has incorporated an agglomeration of classic Jackets and Kurtas, which seems to be a celebration of timeless and luxurious elegance. The collection also includes Bandhgalas, which have now become a ‘must have’ in every man’s wardrobe.
