 ENJOY URDU SHAYARI AT BAZM-E-MUSHAIRA NEXT WEEK IN DELHI

Good news for all the lovers of sher-o-shayari in Delhi NCR. The Shankar Lall Murli Dhar Memorial Society is holding the 56th edition of Bazm-e-Mushaira, an annual gathering that celebrates the rich legacy of Urdu poetry in the first week of April.

The first such event was held back in in 1954. Over the years, it has hosted legends like Josh Malihabadi, Kaifi Azmi, Ali Sardar Jafri, Ahmed Faraz, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, and Jigar Moradabadi, along with other stalwarts such as Javed Akhtar, Prof. Waseem Barelvi, Dr. Gauhar Raza, Sheen Kaaf Nizam, Nomaan Shauque, Shabeena Adeeb and many others. By bringing together voices from across generations, the Mushaira continues to celebrate the timeless beauty of Urdu Sher-O-Shayari.

Today, this mushaira has become a hallmark event that bringing together legendary poets and contemporary voices to honour the beauty and depth of Urdu literature.

This year, the Mushaira will be hosted by Iqbal Ashhar Saheb, while poets like Javed Akhtar, Prof. Waseem Barelvi, Azhar Iqbal, Nomaan Shauque, Dr. Gauhar Raza, Dr. Popular Meeruthi, Shabeena Adeeb, Khushbir Singh Shaad among others will enthuse the audience their verses.

In an effort to promote the core of poetry, the Society has also introduced a special opportunity for young Urdu poets. The new poets can now participate in the Shankar Shad Poetry contest by submitting their original Urdu composition. Those selected by a panel of judges will be awarded on stage during the event in recognition of India’s continuing Urdu shayari tradition.

For over six decades, this platform has preserved the great history of Urdu literature by bringing together renowned poets and up-and-coming voices. Urdu has been the soul of Delhi, the language of royal courts, poets, and the people. Through this Mushaira, we reaffirm our dedication to preserving this literary legacy and making sure it remains vibrant for future generations,” says Madhav Bansidhar Shriram, Chairman, Shankar Lall Murli Dhar Society and Managing Director, DCM Shriram Industries Limited.
