After two years of virtual shows, the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) is back in its offline avatar to wow theatre-lovers and connoisseurs. This is the 17th edition of META, and it will showcase four award-winning plays from META 2020, a landmark 15th edition of META. The show begins on July 7 at and ends on July 10.

“We are pleased to have an on-ground META this year through the presentation of four META 2020 award winning playsFor the Record, Bhaskara Pattelarum Thommiyude Jeevithavum, The Old Man and Ghoom Nei. We are hopeful to be able to have a full-fledged META in 2023 and are looking forward to new pieces of theatre being commissioned and performed during the year,” says Jay Shah, Vice President, Head – Cultural Outreach, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

Over the years, META has given voice to diverse themes ranging from contemporary and pressing social issues, mythology, religion, gender, caste, politics, and classics, through the plays it has showcased.

“Through 2020 and 2021, we built a new community as we streamed a number of award-winning productions followed by talks and conversations around the many disciplines of theatre and the arts,” says Sanjoy Roy, Managing Director, Teamwork Arts.
