First statue of Swami Vivekananda unveiled in Indonesia

On the momentous occasion of the golden jubilee of Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari, history was written in Indonesia with a statue of Swami Vivekananda being unveiled in Bali. Created by sculptor Ai Vayan Agus Veeratma, this is the first statue of Swami Vivekanada in Indonesia and possibly in entire Southeast Asia.

 

Senator Dr I.I. Gusti Nagurah Arya Vedakarna Mahendradatta Vedasatraputarasuyasha III, Ambassador of India to Indonesia Pradeep Kumar Rawat and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center Bali’s director Manohar Puri and the Consul General of India Prakash Chand were present on the occasion.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a popular tourist monument in Vavathurai, Kanyakumari and was built in 1970 in honour of Swami Vivekananda who is said to have attained enlightenment on the rock.
