A three-day Spring Bird Festival is being organised at Kalagarh Tiger Forest, under Corbett Tiger Reserve, where birders from different part of the country will participate and enjoy bird walks. To be organised between February 19 and February 21, the festival is being held after a period of two years by the forest department.
DFO Akhilesh Tiwari, is in-charge of the Spring Bird Festival, shared all facilities will be extended to birders participating in the festival. He added that there is huge variety of birds including like dollar bird, bar-tailed creeper, brown fish owl, black capped kingfisher, bar winged flycatchers, shrikes, black stork, green tailed sunbird, lineated barbet, great hornbill, wall creeper, Indian eagle owl, blue capped redstart, red breasted parakeet, maroon oriole, pin-tailed pigeon, emerald dove, great slaty woodpecker, palash eagle, grey headed fish eagle, lesser fish eagle, steppe eagle, different vultures and many other birds.
Birders who will be attending the festival include Dr Vikram Singh, Jivitesh Singh, Sohini, Mitali Kundu, Karan Sinha, Narender S Khaira, Smita Goel, Sushmita Ganguli, Gargi Ray, Sandhya, Ramveer and Vijay Madan. Rajiv Puran Singh will be helping birders to watch and enjoy the birds during the walks. The festival will also witness a drawing competition for schoolchildren on the first day while there will be an awareness programme for locals on the second day.
