“I’ll be out for a few days… Official assignment… You’ll need to take care of the girls and maa… You’ll have to cook too, as you know Lata (our maid-cum-cook) has already taken leave for the week…” — the voice of my wife faded as she walked out of our room and headed to the kids’ room to break the news about her upcoming trip.
Who goes out on official trips in these scorching summer months? I wondered, already imagining myself in the kitchen, cooking meals for the family — without the wife — with sweat dripping endlessly for the next “few days.”
And just like that, imagination turned into reality.
Over the next three meals, I realised how challenging summer cooking at home can be. Not that I don’t cook — I’m fairly good at it (or at least that’s what people say) — but my culinary adventures have mostly been limited to winter evenings or late-night cravings when the kids demand non-vegetarian fare. Rarely have I had to sweat it out like this.
This time, however, was different.
Choosing Food Delivery Over Cooking in Summer
Refusing to step into the kitchen for the next meal, I decided to explore the far more convenient option — online food delivery. Like most people, I opted for a restaurant nearby to ensure faster delivery. After much contemplation over which cuisine to indulge in, I zeroed in on Italian and finally selected a place called Pasta Italiano.
After spending nearly 20 minutes scanning through the restaurant’s online menu on a food delivery app — carefully considering options for my two little angels and my m
other — I placed the order:
-
Veg Pesto Sauce Pasta (Rs 250)
-
Veg Lasagne (Rs 250)
-
Chicken & Cheese Quesadillas (Rs 190 each)
-
Spaghetti with Chicken Meatballs (Rs 290)
-
Chocolate Brownies (Rs 110) for dessert
Pasta Italiano Noida: Quick Delivery & First Impressions
True to their promise of fast foo
d delivery in Noida, the order arrived within 50 minutes. The restaurant is located about 5 km from our home in Sector 45, Noida.
While waiting, a quick Google search revealed that Pasta Italiano is a casual fine-dine Italian restaurant located at Gardens Galleria Mall, Sector 38 Noida, and also at Venice
Mall, Greater Noida. With its quirky vibe and claims of serving authentic Italian cuisine, it definitely made it to my “must-visit” list for the next mall outing.
Food Review: Taste, Quality & Experience
I must admit — every dish arrived piping hot and tasted even better than expected.
-
The Veg Pesto Sauce Pasta was rich, creamy, and loaded with basil and pine nut pesto, served with garlic bread (which could have been softer).
-
The Veg Lasagne featured generous layers of cheese and vegetables between perfectly baked pasta sheets.
-
My younger one couldn’t stop praising the Spaghetti with Chicken Meatballs, calling it “one of the tastiest spaghetti I’ve had in a long time.”
-
My mother thoroughly enjoyed the Cheese Quesadillas, which were indulgently cheesy and satisfying.
In no time, we polished off the entire spread, i
ncluding dessert. The chocolate brownie was slightly sweeter than what we’re used to — so I quietly saved it for my wife, who absolutely loves this treat.
Final Verdict: Worth Ordering?
If you’re in or around Gardens Galleria Mall, Noida, Pasta Italiano is definitely worth a visit for a quick bite. The taste of the food is impressive, and the variety caters well to family dining.
Alternatively, their home delivery service in Noida is a great option — especially when your “wife happens to be travelling for work.”
Scope for Improvement
That said, there’s room for improvement in the delivery experience. Basic essentials like spoons, forks, tissues, and seasoning sachets were missing. Even the packaging could use some attention.
Quick & Easy Pesto Sauce Pasta Recipe
For those inspired to try cooking (unlike me during summers), here’s a simple pesto sauce pasta recipe:
-
Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling water until done. Drain and set aside.
-
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat.
-
Add pesto, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Cook for about five minutes until the onions soften.
-
In a large bowl, mix the pesto sauce with the cooked pasta.
-
Stir in grated cheese and serve hot.
