To challenge one of the most common misconceptions – getting healthy is a complex, time-consuming and an arduous exercise – a 12-day mega fitness festival, Mission Fit India, was launched in the National Capital. Coinciding with the ongoing fitness challenge initiated by Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, the festival got off to a grand start in the presence of actor Suniel Shetty, yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Group managing director Acharya Balakrishna.
Divided into four phases, the festival aims to reach people across 43 cities in India with the objective of encouraging every Indian to be fit. The campaign will be hosted on radio platforms across the country. To be conducted in four phases with an aim to reach 220 million people, the first phase, called Fit Basics, will be conducted for three weeks to address the myths associated with fitness. The second, Suniel ki Sena, will be spearheaded by the actor and continue for six weeks with 21 fitness experts including Vrinda Mehta coming on board to guide the listeners on fitness, mental health and body transformation.
Celebrity chef Vivek Ratnani will offer his expertise on wellness and nutrition. This will be followed by the third phase, Fitness Wars, which will witness RJs from 43 cities come together to test their endurance for six weeks. Finally, it will be the finale where the selected ones would take up base in Uttarakhand for a transformation challenge.
Speaking on the occasion, Baba Ramdev said, “Like every coin has two sides, so does your health – body and mind, and both need equal attention for your complete wellness. Yoga and Ayurveda take care of both and Mission Fit India will tell everyone how. The campaign is all about holistic wellness and that is the reason I could so easily relate to it.”
“Fitness is an area where there is yet to be a concerted effort in this country. The aim of this movement is to simplify fitness for every citizen of this country with correct guidance from a team of experts,” shared Shetty.
