CELEBRATING BLACK AND WHITE

Team L&M

Explore the subtleties of black and white contrasts, threaded with personal and environmental landscapes, at Between These Lines in this Space I Root & Grows, a solo show by artist Seema Pandey going on at the Shridharani Art Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi.

Pandey has put up about 100 artworks that she she has made using different mediums like Acrylic and ink on canvas, Ink on Paper, Ink on canvas, Ink and Gouache on Paper, each of which speaks volumes about resilience and the human spirit.

A hard work of two years, the show features a mix of miniature size as well as larger artworks, reflecting Pandey’s keen observations and creative exploration of diverse surroundings, memories and imaginations, that have shaped her holistic and free-spirited approach to art.

The works identify with a holistic and purposeful side of the artist, and yet remain free-spirited enough to tell their individual stories through their locales, materials, and forms, reflecting the artist’s keen observation and awareness of anything and everything around her – during her travels, drives around the city, or her immediate surrounding at her workplace or home, from her experiences or imagination—and traces back in time to a two-year incubation period within a mental womb.

The exhibition is an eye opener not because it makes its ideations loud and clear, but because it subsumes the charm of black and white into a new angle of contrasts. Whether they are born of her keen observation of the outdoors, or contextualised with the workings of her inner vibrations, the final product is a visual delight of soul-searching tranquillity.

On till July 21, 11am to 8pm
