Navya Naveli Gallery, New Delhi is holding a group exhibition at its premises in which works by artists Akbar Padamsee, Anjolie Ela Menon, Manjit Bawa SH Raza, Bhupen Khakhar, Salvador Dali, Prasad Shaw, Arpita Singh are being showcased. The exhibition includes a vast collection of Lithography (printing from a flat surface where unnecessary ink is turned away from the surface, generally by grease), Etching (an intaglio – printing is done from ink that is below the surface of the plate – printmaking process in which lines or areas are incised using acid into a metal plate in order to hold the ink), Printings and Serigraphy (silkscreen paintings). There are more than 100 artworks at the show.
The show, titled The Limited Edition, has been curated by Amrita Kochhar and Kanika Khandelwal.
“This is a ‘limited edition exhibition’ which has works from a number of artists; some of them may not be with us in this world but their works will be with us forever,” says Kochhar.
Talking about the reason behind holding such a show Khandelwal says, “Modern and contemporary art shows are easily promoted and exhibited, but prints, etching and lithography works, as also serigraphy are hardly promoted, and we feel strongly about it. These are also works of art and should be promoted.”
The show is on till November 23, at Navya Naveli Gallery, New Delhi
