Since time immemorial, plants have been the base of our ancient ayurvedic science and their use in treatment of common diseases continues to date. The properties and importance of medicinal values of popular herbs have been well documented in our ancient scripts. In these exceptional times, when there is an enormous scarcity of oxygen, knowledge about indoor oxygen-giving plants and other therapeutic spices and herbs needs to reach out to the masses.

To sensitise people about infinite ways by which Nature can help us beat the lethal Covid-19 infection, the Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of Bihar, has initiated the #NatureCuresYou campaign. The campaign emphasises on providing comprehensive information on home-based spices and herbs that have medicinal values, in a simple and an easy-to-understand manner. It is communicating information through illustrative creatives, showcasing the significance of plants and herbs, with an intention that these valuable insights encourage people to embrace a natural way to healthy life.

Nature Cures You

#NatureCuresYou also highlights effective methods of simple treatment by which common people can take care of their health, while being at home and minimal external intervention. Today, when people are in state of uncertainty and running from pillar to post, common understanding about the medicinal values of plants around us like giloy, kalimirch and pippali (long pepper) and many others will provide some ease. These common household spices are not only easily available but are also affordable, and help reduce the ever-increasing burden on our primary healthcare system.

Besides health benefits, the #NatureCuresYou campaign seeks to rejuvenate our ancient system of natural treatment, simultaneously instilling a habit to conserve plants amongst people. The pandemic has confined people to their homes, and therefore the need of a purified and oxygenated atmosphere has become a necessity. This campaign encourages people towards indoor and potted plants, which can be an invaluable source to purified fresh oxygen, at no extra cost. Snake plant, rubber plant and areca palm are some indoor oxygen-providing plants and are instrumental in the creation of a healthy indoor environment.
