Bel Patra – Stone Apple
Bael Patra is used widely in worship of Hindu deities, especially Lord Shiva. Take a closer look at the leaf and you see the leaf is a trifoliate, which in Hindu belief signifies the Holy Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Jains also consider bel patra auspicious. It is believed that the 23rd Tirthankara, Parshavantha, attained nirvana under this tree.
It is usually grown in the forest. To grow a bel plant at home the best time to sow the root is during the monsoon.
The plant takes away all the negative vibes and fills the surroundings with positivity as it also confers good health and prosperity.
Lighting diya under the bel tree is good for gaining knowledge.
According to Skanda Purana, the plant bel patra grew with the sweat droplets of Goddess Parvati and so is considered very auspicious and sacred.
