Worshipped on Amlaka Ekadashi celebrated on the 11th day (Ekadashi) of the waxing moon, in the lunar month of Phalgun (February–March), Amla is sacred as Lord Vishnu is believed to dwell in it. It is said to have originated from the drops of amrit (elixir) during Samudramanthan.


Other than worshipping, Amla is also Ayurveda for its medicinal values

The tree can be propagated from seeds, budding or air layering. But the better option is to buy a grafted sapling.

Amla needs well-drained soil rich in organic matter

Regular and good watering is essential at the young age and also in summer.

The sunlight requirements are similar to any other plant — about four to six hours sunlight is sufficient for Amla tree.
