 Visit Saras Food Festival for authentic cuisines from states across India

Kair Sagari, Gatte ki Sabzi and Bajra Roti from Rajasthan, Hilsa Fish Curry from West Bengal, Chicken from Telangana, Malabar Biryani from Kerala, Litti Chokha from Bihar and Sarso da Saag and Makke ki Roti from Punjab. All this and more is on offer at the ongoing food festival in Delhi.

A flagship event of the Union Ministry of Rural Development, being held at the Handicraft Bhawan, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Connaught Place in New Delhi, the Saras Food Festival has about 150 women entrepreneurs and members of self-help groups, formed under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, from 17 states across the country as participants.

Giving you a glimpse into the Indian food culture, the festival has stalls from 17 states across the country offering authentic local food. What’s more: you can also learn a bit about how the speciality dishes are prepared from the chefs at the stalls.

Some of the foods to look out for include Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, Kababs from Telangana; Mughalai Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, Ras Malai from Odisha; Special Bamboo Rice and Bamboo Chicken from Andhra Pradesh; Puran Poli, Vada Pav, Misal Pav, Gavran Chicken, Bhakri from Maharashtra; Kappa Fish Curry, Nannari Serbet, Vanasundari Herbal Chicken, from Kerala; Sticky steam rice & Sticky Rice Kheer from Assam; Jhunger Kheer from Uttarakhand.

Apart from food, some of the things that you can explore at Saras Food Festival art of different states, craft and handicrafts products as also cultural programs. The festival is promoting ethnic and home-made handicrafts, paintings, toys, etc., prepared by women of the participating self-help groups.

Ably managed the festival has an arrangement for round-the-clock fire-fighting to deal with any untoward incident arising during the festival. Along with this, there is an ambulance ready all the time and a medical room for providing first-aid. CCTV cameras have also been installed everywhere on the festival premises, which are monitored from a room.

The food festival is on till November 10, 2022
